Hidden beauty
Audi has pulled the wraps – but not the camouflage strips – off its new A3 Sportback. The car arrives in the UK later this year, and you can register here to be the first to receive the latest news and updates. Recently, a small number of journalists were given the chance to drive the fourth generation of this premium compact sports car on São Miguel Island in the Azores archipelago. The challenging route seared through the stunning scenery where the annual Azores Rallye is held, enabling the drivers to sample the highly advanced Quattro all-wheel-drive system, which will be available on certain models, and experience its ultra-sharp handling, prodigious grip, and cosseting ride.
The Quattro system has been tailored specifically to this new model, and its sophisticated electronic torque (or driving force) distribution control system combines with state-of-the-art Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) technology to turn the car into corners with an exceptionally high level of precision. Its new electromechanical progressive steering strikes the perfect balance between sportiness and comfort while serving up a high level of involvement and driving pleasure. In addition, its five-mode Audi drive select system includes an ‘Individual’ setting that enables drivers to fine-tune the driving character to their own taste.
We’ll be revealing lots more about the new Audi A3 Sportback over the coming weeks before it goes on sale in the UK very soon.
